Rod Giles | Managing Director and Founder

Rod founded Contract Warehousing in 1978 when he predicted that Closer Economic Relations meant more Australian companies would take advantage of the opportunity to enter the New Zealand market if only the cost of entry was minimised.

Rod's own career began with farming and finished as head shepherd at the age of 20 on a 16,000 acre sheep and cattle station. He then went and worked for a national automotive parts company where he commenced at the bottom and worked he way through the company for a number of years ending up as area manager in Wellington before going to Australia for a period and working for a National company in Sydney in a similar industry before returning to NZ, married with a family on the way. From here he got involved in the transport industry which resulted in his setting up his own company in the freight industry. It was at this time that he also commenced developing the idea of CONTRACT WAREHOUSING.

From the small beginning of developing the idea of Contract Warehousing the services and the scope of the company has grown considerably from a time when no one understood the concept to a significant business operating in two countries, on the management pillars of innovative, imaginative and progressive.

Rod's strong and highly ethical attitude has led him to become a respected business leader. He was asked to be Chairman of the Manukau City Distribution Cluster Group, promoting and administering industry interests which lead to his heavy involvement in obtaining support for industry training for people wanting to enter the industry and for those wanting to improve their skills and obtain diplomas and degrees. This lead to him being given an award for services to industry in 2005 as the recipient of the Manukau City Westpac Business

Rod has also leveraged his business to deliver positive results for the wider community, driving an employment policy that welcomes new immigrants and long-term unemployed to the business, and helping to create an awareness of employment opportunities amongst high school students.

Kirsty Giles | Administration Manager
Kirsty joined the company in 1992 and has gained a broad experience over the years in different areas of the business. Her current role as Administration Manager includes new client set up and implementation, payroll, accounts, but she also maintains a hands-on, day to day role as an account manager with several clients.
Tracey Retter | Chartered Accountant
As the company accountant Tracey has now worked within the organisation for over 15 years handling the financial affairs not only for Contract Warehousing Ltd but also many of our clients with their GST requirements through to full monthly management accounts.
